Dapit-hapon

This is the final video of our thesis entitled "Dapit-hapon"
made by me, Elan E. Trabucon and my partner Venz Gapasin.

The story is about two boys who are best of friends despite their differences in culture and religion. They met each other in highschool but got separated after they graduate. Years later, they met each other in the most unexpected place and situation they could ever imagine: in the battlefield of the never ending war between the Christians and Muslims of Mindanao.

There is so much to improve about this animation, and I am willing to work on it.

Zuko

attempt on a realistic Zuko face. That's actually Ayano Gou's face. I just thought his face would make a perfect Zuko. XD

Baaman

Batman-related fanarts. I am kind of enjoying drawing silhouettes. They're stylish and easy to draw.

more Gantz fan art + PICCA Animation Jam

the alien in black and Nishi Joichiro from the Gantz movie. I recently finished watching the 3 Gantz movies. I was again inspired drawing a fanart, and chose to draw the most interesting characters for me. I now have a new celebrity crush,  Ayano Go, who played as the Alien in Black in the Gantz movie 3.  He's also the one who played as Urushibara Ryo in Crows Zero 2 and I recently learned that he's part of the Rourouni Kenshin live action movie... now I'm actually considering to watch it.

I'm also hyped about our team getting 2nd Place in the PICCA Animation Jam last October 5-6.  Check out my tumblr post about it!

draw this again

before
after

I tried the "draw this again" meme, with this drawing I did last year. turns out I like the old one better. I'm not sure if I really did improve. the way how i painted the new one creeps me out, although I like her pose much better.

that punk!

it's a failed attempt of steampunk-ish design. perspective is off, also the foreshortening. there's still a lot to improve about this.... although I still like its color scheme, and that is the only reason I'm putting this here. :)

Gantz!

unfinished sketch of Kei Kurono from Gantz.
Had to put watermark on this one, because I uploaded it in my Deviantart account. I've experienced art theft before in my earlier years there, don't want that to happen again. (although somehow it's flattering because sometimes I feel my artwork is too awesome that someone wants to steal it XD)

Fanarts

Marianing ©Niko Salazar

Petto of Stumbling Blocks ©Nathan Pangilinan
I made fanarts of the main characters in my friends' graduation films and since they are fanarts, my drawing does not resemble much of the original. Mariano from Kuya Niko's Marianing and Petto from Nathan's Stumbling Blocks. It's fun drawing other people's original characters... so I'm planning to do more!
*doesn't give a fuck about my own thesis*

Friends and Lovers

see that porcelain shell
your exoskeleton
and I feel like we walk well together

because in the end....

we are Friends and Lovers

inspired by Incubus' song, Friends and Lovers. Incubus is my favorite band, and I draw inspiration from most of their songs. I've posted the same picture on my tumblr, only I quoted different lyrics from the song. enjoy!

old design stuff

Just wanted to post these things, even though they are complete garbage. Although I really like that Holloweenie thingy, it's cute. These are actually my project in Computer Graphics subject.

Murderers' Hands

Inspired by a scene from the Japanese movie "Kohaku" or better known in English as "Confessions"
This is actually my favorite scene, where Shuya (left) reaches for Mizuki's (right) hand.

self portrait

I just tried making a self portrait. I'm quite inspired doing portraits.... but this one doesn't resemble me that much. here's the progress.. uhm.. I don't know how to call this but it's some saved progress while I'm working on this portrait:

Taxi Driver

Travis Bickle from the 1976 film Taxi Driver. I liked Robert de Niro too much I had to draw him. It's actually from this scene:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4e9CkhBb18E
and I also have this unfinished version: http://elantra.tumblr.com/post/28426176660/you-talkin-to-me-you-talkin-to-me-oh

t-shirt design

A friend asked me if I could make a t-shirt design for the Music Ministry of YFC here in Laguna, she's a member and obviously I'm not. though I am not sure yet if they will actually use my designs, I still feel like posting them here.

this is the iKEB. a 3D Model I never got to use in any of my 3D animation. it sucks because I left it the day I needed it for the exercise. this is based on my friend's 2D drawing. I asked his permission to turn his character into 3D. this is the 2D version:
it's better in 2D

CCCXXXIII

A graphic Novel.
story by: Charlene Ngo and James Sampan
art by: Dominik Pelayo and yours truly
inks by: Vic Lucena, Lennin Caragdag, Venz Gapasin, and Enreek Sy.
Voice and Video Editting by: James Sampan
Scans and Digital Editting by: Charlene Ngo

we did this for our final project in JOSERIZ, better known as Jose Rizal subject in other schools.
the story was inspired by the history of our country, in those days wherein Filipinos were still not aware of the oppression and abuse of the Spaniards.

Sampan really made the graphic novel better with this video. :)

Those Angels

this is Anael, his name was based from the Angel of Love.  but he does not look lovable  at all. I made  a pet  for him (and that cat with wings still has no name) since I think it suits his lazy personality.

this one is called Nathanael. He is an angel of fire. his name was from an angel that is somehow is associated with  fire or the sun. I can't actually remember. he is quite grumpy, but he is calm most of the time. just try not to disturb him that much. he actually breathes fire.

this one is Zuriel, the angel of earth. on his original design, he only has one wing.  but, I find  a pair of wings suited  him better. what inspired me with this design is Brandon Boyd's look in Incubus' Certain Shade Of Green MV.

Hadriel, the angel of wind. nothing much to say about her, but  her hair style was in fact inspired by Azula's hairstyle from  Avatar: The Legend of Aang.

Kutiel, the angel of water. the wings were inspired by Hitsugaya Toshiro's BanKai mode.  my  friend said that he kinda looks like Iro, (Zuko's uncle from Avatar: The Legend of Aang) but I didn't notice it til then. despite the old age, he is quite lively and much more mischievous than any of the other angels earlier.

these are the angel character designs I was talking about. I almost get tired of drawing these. (but I did get fed up drawing those) I plan to make illustrations involving them.

I came up with these elemental angels because I was so inspired by the 4 nations from Avatar, and their bending.

The Dullahan

I was inspired drawing my own version of a dullahan because of the anime Durarara! I wanted to include this picture in my portfolio but my professor rejected it. I still like it anyways, it's still my favorite among the drawings I made for my portfolio.

sketch and walk

these are the sketches I made when we joined the Sketchwalk 2012 last..I dunno, maybe January? It's fun sketching beautiful girls with other people~ looking forward to it next year! aaaaand THAT... is how I do my sketches. they're f*ckin lame!

hoo~ what's with the watermark? XD this is a logo I made for that portfolio class. they say it looked something like a logo for an online server for a game? I dunno. they're just my initials you see. E and T. swirling around each other. here's a better look of the logo:

is it good? I don't think so.

an old work

this is an old work of mine, dated maybe... 3 years ago. I forgot what inspired me drawing this, but I do remember that this was an entry for a contest in DeviantArt.com. (if you are ever interested, visit:  http://theotherside08.DeviantArt.com) I've joined a number of contests there but I never experienced winning. oh well, I guess that's life.

anyhow, this art work is traditional, from roughs,  inks, to colors. but the background  is photoshopped. just to fill in the white spaces. as you can see, I'm a fan of angels. but I'm honestly getting tired of it, since I have this theme in my portfolio that focuses in angel character designs. I draw angels too much. XD

Lyrics and Drawings

Little angel, your world can be so cruel
I set your wings on fire every night

I die for you everytime
I see you cry

Rain, I shower in her drops of tears
  tonight

while drawing these two, I was thinking of the lyrics from the song "Little Angel" by Charon. songs really help out in bringing inspirations. especially metal songs!

these were drawn with markers and pens.and a little tuning in photoshop.

Distraction drawing for the win!

It's a sketch I made during my so-called thesis hours. Claire Stanfield/Vino/Rail Tracer from the anime or light novel Baccano! .  I don't really know how should I adress him. But I do prefer calling him Vino. Another fanart obviously, but I just have to draw him badly!

this time it's a failed attempt of digital paiting, I don't really know how to do that kind of thing. I painted it without inking, just a little tweak in the lineart. background's not mine, it's an image I saw in the internet, I filtered it to go with the image.

Miyerkules, Marso 7, 2012

A fanArt

A fan art of Zuko from the series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He is one of my favorite characters in the series, besides from Bumi and Toph.
This is actually traditionally inked, and digitally painted. I copied his pose from a random picture of a man doing a Northern Shaolin stance I found in the internet, which is by the way the reference for the fire bending stances.
